Double podium delight for Jack Sherwood at Snetterton

Jack Sherwood claimed a pair of overall podium finishes in the F4 British Championship at the weekend (May 24-26), battling the elements to run consistently at the front of the field.
Continuing his good form to begin the season, Jack was at the sharp end in qualifying, finishing fourth quickest in the session and earning a second place start for the opening race of the weekend, taking place later that afternoon.
With rain falling across the day, visibility was difficult during the first race. Jack slipped back to fourth on the opening lap and from there had a relatively quiet contest, before a late Safety Car bunched the field up. However, he held his own on the final racing lap, taking another solid points finish.
Starting ninth for race two on Sunday morning, he moved forward to seventh by lap two, and was in a battle with his Rodin Motorsport teammates as they were being held up by a car ahead. Getting through and into fourth just before the Safety Car was called. Racing resumed with three minutes on the clock and he made a swift move to claim third. He then took second before the end of the lap, scoring a well-earned podium finish in difficult conditions.
It was dry and sunny for the final race of the weekend, on Sunday afternoon. Jack started well, taking third place off the line, and was into second halfway through the opening lap, before the Safety Car was once again called. Settling into second place on the restart, he was looking comfortable as the heavens opened and the red flag was shown, taking a second podium of the day, part of a dominant Rodin one-two-three.
After a strong weekend, Jack now looks forward to rounds 10, 11, and 12 of the F4 British Championship season, which take place at Thruxton in Hampshire, over June 8/9.

“Qualifying was pretty strong. I was hindered a bit on my final lap, which was my quickest, but we had positive pace for the rest of the weekend. In race one we were strong, and I settled into a rhythm as it was wet and the field was tight, so I took the points in P4. I had a tricky start for race two and dropped right back but fought my way back to P2 with convincing speed.
“Race three we had a good start and jumped Joel [Bergstrom], before the Safety Car came out. Once it restarted, we had a storm, so the race was red flagged. I was happy with the laps we completed and am looking forward to Thruxton. It was a constant theme across the weekend that we picked up pace, so hopefully we can keep scoring points and mount a challenge for the championship.”
