SHERWOOD & STANLEY REUNITE FOR DUBAI 24-HOUR SHOWDOWN

British GT racer Jamie Stanley will join forces with longstanding team-mate Glenn Sherwood for the first time in a year, to contest the HANKOOK 24H DUBAI on 14-16th January.

The duo have an illustrious competitive history, having clinched the Lotus Cup UK Exige Cup title three times together for Sherwood's GWS Motorsport team, before Sherwood decided to step away from racing this season to concentrate on building his successful Tructyre business. Stanley, meanwhile, has been competing in the British GT Championship.

However, you can’t keep a keen driver out of the car for long, and the two racers will combine their talents behind the wheel of a Tructyre & Hankook supported Lotus Evora at the Dubai Autodrome. The gruelling day-long race forms the first round of the 2016 24-hour International Endurance Series, created to test man and machine to its limit.

Stanley and Sherwood have already contested the 24H DUBAI in 2013, however a heavy hit from behind brought their race to an early close – so the pair have scores to settle in 2016.

They will join drivers Adam Knight and Ossy Yusuf aboard the Track Club prepared car. The four drivers should make for a very competitive team, as Knight was the Lotus Cup UK Overall Champion in 2014, while Yusuf is the 2015 British GT Pro am Champion.

“I’m really looking forward to racing with Glenn again, especially in the Lotus Evora,” said Jamie Stanley. “The HANKOOK 24H DUBAI is a massively exciting challenge to kick-start the year, and I’m confident we’re going to be competitive from the get-go. We’ve had some promising testing sessions already, so everything is shaping up nicely! Adam and Ossy will be a great team to drive with - having raced against both of them before, I'm aware of their speed."

“It feels great to be racing again after a relatively quiet season,” added Glenn Sherwood. “Dubai’s going to be a baptism of fire – new track, new car, new climate – but I’m ready for the challenge. With the support of Hankook, the team, and of course Jamie, I think we’ve got the ingredients for a great race, so long as we manage to avoid trouble.”

Stanley and Sherwood’s return to the track will be broadcast live on Motors TV, with live streaming available through www.24hseries.com and live commentary on Radiolemans.com.
